German flavourings manufacturer Symrise has announced its support for the Initiative for Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains (INA).
The company joins 32 other companies and organisations jointly supporting the German supply chain act.
By early next year, the German Federal Government is planning to introduce the supply chain act.
Established in 2018 by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and run by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), INA offers a knowledge platform and also operates sustainability projects in Colombia, Ethiopia and West Africa.
The flavouring’s manufacturer has a target of 100% sustainably procure strategic agriculture and aquaculture raw materials by 2025.
Symrise chief sustainability officer Bernhard Kott said: “As a global company, climate protection and sustainable supply chains are especially important for us.
“To achieve this, we rely on transparency and traceability to achieve full control along the value chain. Our suppliers must adhere to our code of conduct, which in addition to full details on the source of raw materials includes factors like human rights, health and environment.
