Warrell Corp. sold a business, closed another one and now has shrunk back to a contract manufacturing operation specializing in candy and confections.
Warrell, of Camp Hill, Pa., just sold its Pennsylvania Dutch Candies assets to Nassau Candy, Hicksville, N.Y., a manufacturer and distributor of confectionery, gourmet food and private label/customized souvenir products.
The company also officially closed its Warrell Classic Caramel business, which closed its doors last September. The plant was located in an historic building in downtown York, Pa., which is being repurposed through an urbanization development program. The property’s 100-year-old architecture is being renovated into residential housing.
“These strategic divestitures were made to enable Warrell Corporation to focus on its Warrell Creations core contract manufacturing and private label operations,” said Patricia Zwergel, President and CEO. “Our capabilities include chocolate enrobing, chocolate panning, brittles, nut clusters and fire roasting. We have deep experience in confectionary manufacturing and a passion for meeting the snacking needs of today’s consumers, whether it be an on-the-go healthy snack or an indulgent one.”
