Coca-Cola has promoted its head of Latin American operations to be the new president of Coca-Cola North America.
Alfredo Rivera, who joined the company in 1997 as a district manager for Guatemala and El Salvador, has overseen the Latin America group since 2016. A native of Honduras, he holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Rivera replaces Jim Dinkins, who is retiring after 32 years with Coca-Cola. He had been president of the company’s Minute Maid unit and chief retail sales officer for Coca-Cola North America before becoming its president in 2018.
“Alfredo has had a remarkable career in Latin America, which is made up of a large number of highly complex and diverse markets,” James Quincey, chairman and CEO, said in a statement. “Alfredo has built a networked organization that is positioning our business to emerge stronger from the current pandemic. He is a strong successor for the top role in our flagship North America market, wher he will build on the great progress we’ve seen under Jim’s leadership.”
