Anheuser-Busch InBev is looking for a replacement for Carlos Brito, its CEO for the last 16 years, according to a report in the Financial Times.
The board of AB InBev is mostly looking at external candidates, with only one internal candidate being considered, according to the Financial Times account: Michel Doukeris, the current head of the North America Anheuser-Busch business.
Brito, a native of Brazil, oversaw the growth of AB InBev into the world’s biggest brewer, most notably with the 2016 acquisition of SABMiller. Brito, who reportedly plans to step down later this year, is involved in the search for his successor and will join the company’s board of directors once he leaves the CEO position. The company is being helped by recruitment firm Spencer Stuart.
