Atria Finland has acquired the entire share capital of convenience food products manufacturer Domretor Oy for an undisclosed sum.
Since 2013, Atria has been associated with Domretor after it acquired a 24.9% stake in the company.
With the latest deal, the Finnish food company has now acquired the entire stake in Domretor.
On 1 October, Domretor’s entire ownership has been transferred to Atria.
Atria Finland managing director Mika Ala-Fossi said: “With the acquisition, Atria will further strengthen its position in the retail convenience food selections and in the market for Food Service products.
“Domretor will continue to operate independently as its own company and now Domretor has better opportunities to utilise all of Atria’s customer channels.
“We have been very satisfied with the long-term cooperation with Domretor, wher the flexible operating method and expertise of a small player have been able to be utilised effectively.”
based in Kauhava, Finland, Domretor has established itself as a contract manufacturer of convenience food products and semi-finished products since its inception in 1999.
Domretor’s manufacturing facility in Kauhava has around 110 employees, of which 70 are permanent staff members and 40 are seasonal workers.
Domretor Oy managing director Åsa Alanko said: “Atria’s customer channels and the support of a large company strengthen Domretor’s position in the market. It is important to us that the company’s operations continue and that jobs are maintained in Kauhava.”
Last October, Atria unveiled its plans to expand its poultry production capacity with an estimated preliminary investment of €130m.
The investment was intended to be used to upgrade the company’s existing production facilities and construction of new facilities and lines at the Nurmo plant.
