Taher, a Minnesota-based food service management company, has recalled more than 22,000lb of frozen meat products produced without federal inspection.
According to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), Taher produced and packaged the frozen meat products from 25 February.
Products subject to recall include 16lb boxes containing four bags of ‘Fresh Seasons Tator Tot Hot Dish’ and ‘Fresh Seasons Sloppy Joe’.
Furthermore, products subject to recall may or may not bear establishment number ‘EST 45091’ inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The food regulatory authority noted that the company shipped the recalled products to institutions and foodservice locations in Minnesota.
FSIS inspection personnel identified that the company produced the goods without the benefit of federal inspection.
The US agency said there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of the products and urged concerned consumers to contact a healthcare provider.
Consumers have been advised not to consume the products and to either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
The recall, categorised as Class I, indicates that consumption of the product could cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.
