Continental Glatt Kosher Meats has recalled nearly 61,504lb of ready-to-eat (RTE) meat and poultry products, which were produced without federal inspection in the US.
According to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the products that are subject to recall have been produced on various dates from 26 June through 20 November.
The RTE meat and poultry products have various sell-by dates ranging from 2 October 2020 through 18 April 2021.
The products were shipped to retail locations in New York.
Furthermore, the recalled RTE products bear an establishment number ‘EST. 40009’ inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets identified the issue and notified FSIS that Continental Glatt Kosher Meats products were manufactured without the benefit of federal inspection and is bearing the mark of inspection from another establishment without authorisation.
No confirmed reports of adverse reactions have so far been reported due to the consumption of the products.
FSIS stated that anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
Consumers were urged not to consume the products and either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
The food regulatory authority is also concerned that some products may be present in consumer refrigerators or freezers.
The recall has been categorised as Class I, which indicates that consumption of the product could cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.
In October, a Minnesota-based food service management company Taher recalled more than 22,000lb of frozen meat items produced without federal inspection.
According to FSIS, Taher manufactured and packaged the products from 25 February.
