CLS Gourmet CL Saigon Food Company has decided to recall nearly 128,841lb of various meat products from the US market, which were produced without the benefit of federal inspection.
Categorised as Class I, the recall indicates that consumption of the product could cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.
According to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), these raw and fully cooked meat products were produced and distributed between 29 April and 5 December.
The items that are subject to recall include a variety of pork roll products flavoured with fish sauce.
The problem was identified after it was observed that various meat products produced by CL Saigon Food and were labelled with the marks of inspection in commerce at a retail market.
Meat items that are part of the recall were shipped to retail locations across the US.
The food regulatory authority conducted surveillance at the establishment and confirmed that the firm distributed amenable products without the benefit of inspection.
FSIS said there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of the products and urged concerned consumers to contact a healthcare provider.
