Global food company Cargill has reportedly acquired US-based cooked meat products manufacturer ProPortion Foods for an undisclosed sum.
based in Los Angeles, ProPortion Foods offers fully cooked poultry, pork, and beef products to its customers in the foodservice and retail sectors.
ProPortion Foods co-founder Brian Levy said: “Founders of ProPortion are proud of their commitment and hard work to build the successful company.
“We’re delighted that the business and our employees will have the opportunity to grow with Cargill, completing the vision we set out to achieve.”
The company has two meat processing in Vernon, California; and Round Rock, Texas.
As part of the deal, which was closed last December, Cargill will also take over the two processing facilities.
Cargill North America protein business managing director for growth ventures Rob Stewart said: “The two plants produce ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat products in single-serving and family-sized portions for regional and national restaurant chains, including quick-service restaurants and casual dining concepts.
“We are investing in our future and look forward to growing the Cargill team and our presence in the southern and western US while continuing to build our customer portfolio.”
Last September, Russian meat producer Cherkizovo Group completed the previously announced acquisition of chicken processing facility in Russia’s Tula region from Cargill.
Cherkizovo Group’s AIC Mikhailovsky executed the deal to acquire Сompass Foods, which is based in Efremov, Tula, from Cargill.
