Kellogg Co. is shutting down two lines at a plant in Ohio and moving the production, and jobs, to one in Tennessee.

Kellogg notified local officials in Mariemont, Ohio, a suburb of Cincinnati, earlier this month that it’s closing two lines producing Zesta and Toasted crackers, and moving production to its plant in Jackson, Tenn. The Jackson plant will get a new line and have an existing one reconfigured. The changes will take place by the end of this year.

In addition, Kellogg will cease production of vanilla wafers for Ferrero in Mariemont once its contract to do so expires. That contract was part of Ferrero’s deal to buy Kellogg’s cookie business in early 2019.

The changes will result in the loss of about 250 jobs overall, most of them hourly-wage workers. The Mariemont plant will continue to make other brands of crackers. Kellogg stated that it regrets the job loss but needed to make the move to ensure overall production efficiency.
