Food and drink manufacturers are coming together at the Big Bang UK Scientists and Engineers Fair this week to inspire more young people to consider careers in the UKs largest manufacturing sector.
The event is playing host to the food and drink industry for a fifth year in a row from 16-19 March 2016 as part of the Food and Drink Federations (FDF) Taste Success – A Future in Food careers campaign.
With a range of displays and activities on offer, including a DJ robot and giant chocolate sculpture, young professionals from the sector will aim to highlight the exciting career opportunities on offer to students.
This year, FDF members PepsiCo UK, Mars UK, United Biscuits, Mondelēz International and McCain Foods will be offering a range of interactive activities to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers, alongside industry automation FDF professional affiliates and stakeholders Festo, Omron and Siemens.
Tim Rycroft, corporate affairs director at the FDF, says, "Our stand is intended to stimulate interest in the fantastic range of career opportunities available in food and drink manufacturing and inspire the engineers of the future.
"Visitors will be able to learn first hand from apprentices and graduates about what it is like to work in the industry while learning about the various routes available, such as the industry supported Food Engineering degrees at Sheffield Hallam University."
