International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF) has devised its 2030 “Do More Good Plan,” an environmental, social and governance (ESG) roadmap which has been developed to facilitate the production of sustainable proteins and enzyme solutions. Simultaneously, the company seeks to promote circular economics in the workplace.
“With this plan, we are embedding even more ambitious targets in our operations and partnerships to address the urgent issues that affect our world,” says Andreas Fibig, IFF chairman and CEO.
“To date, our efforts have achieved ratings above industry standards and have had real impact throughout our value chain.”
IFF aims to enable customers and consumers to save up to 50 times carbon dioxide generation by providing plant-based solutions that facilitate food waste reduction and energy saving.
ESG targets
In a concerted effort to support environmental stewardship across operations, IFF will set new science-based goals to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50%, achieve net-zero GHGs by 2040 and be net-positive by 2050.
In line with these targets, “Shared Planet” leads Innova Market Insights’ Top Ten Trends for 2022, which focuses on how industry and consumers can play a role in shaping a sustainable future. Consumers now rank planetary health as their number one concern, overtaking personal health.
By 2030, IFF will verify zero waste to landfill, including plastics minimization, for more extensive manufacturing facilities and facilitate water stewardship solutions of its operations. The company aims to achieve zero deforestation for raw material supply chains starting with palm, soy and wood.
The plan is designed to build on IFF’s commitments to people and the planet.
IFF will strengthen diversity, equity and inclusion in its US workforce by employing 40% of people of color in management roles by 2030. It aims to create greater gender balance, with women holding 50% of management roles.
Environmental sustainability efforts
IFF will also support its customers in achieving ESG goals by providing an expanded suite that focuses on sustainable growth.
Innovations will have a sustainability value proposition featuring health and well-being products and circular economy strategies.
“This plan is designed to build on our long-standing commitments to people and the planet while showcasing our strengths in science, technology and innovation,” adds Dr. Greg Yep, EVP, chief research and development, global integrated solutions and sustainability officer.
The “Do More Good Plan’” is designed to build on IFF’s commitments to the environment while showcasing science, technology and innovation advancement.
