Designed by Lontra, the Blade Compressor delivers air at 1 barg and offers oil-free, energy efficient and reliable air compression.

Air compressors are widely used in food and beverage plants, including pneumatic conveying systems that transport powdered and granulated ingredients. Oil-free blowers are particularly important for this industry to avoid contamination and to preserve product quality. However, most are based on designs originating from 1860 and have become increasingly expensive and inefficient to run.

The Blade Compressor has been created with a new geometry and effectively tested at Severn Trent water, wher the technology required 21.2% less energy compared with traditional blowers.

For food and drink manufacturers across the UK, this could mean savings of several million pounds per annum and a significant reduction in CO2 emissions.

Lontra is looking for partners and large end users to be involved in the development and trial of the Blade Compressor technology to meet stringent requirements of the industry.
