Data from the Consumer Panel GfK shows that in the period from November 2015 to October 2016, Polish households allocated 1.25 billion złoty (285.08 million Euro) for the purchase of pickled vegetable products. Compared to the same period last year, this figure increased by nearly 4 percent, while in terms of volume, the total figure decreased by 1.5 percent, down to 229 million kilos.
The survey shows that 98 percent of Polish households bought pickled vegetables at least once a year. The average household purchased products in the category an average of 21 times a year, spending almost 94 złoty (21.44 Euro).
Among the vegetables, the most popular are cabbage, corn and cucumbers. In terms of value, a significant increase was recorded in the purchases of chickpeas (by about 76 percent).
Polish households bought pickled vegetables primarily in discount stores (34 percent of the total volume) and from traditional traders (24 percent).
