Palmer Candy Company is recalling some chocolate products for possible Salmonella contamination. They were made with a milk powder ingredient in a compound chocolate coating that was made by Valley Milk Products. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue.
The products were made between October 20, 2016 and December 9, 2016 and were shipped by Palmer Candy Company to grocery, convenience store, and wholesale customers nationwide. You can see the long list of recalled products at the FDA web site, along with UPC numbers and expiration date ranges. Some of the products were sold under the Palmer Candy Company brand, others were private label chocolates, and bulk chocolates that were repackaged by retailers. Getting has shown no pathogenic bacteria in the milk confectionary coatings.
The recalled products include Chocolate Almond Bark, Drizzled Peanut Brittle, Peppermint Bark, Swirled Pretzels, Christmas Tree Pretzels, Creme de Menthe Bark, Publix Almond Bark with Cocoa, Publix Peppermint Bark, and Peppermint Bark, among others. If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Throw them away in a a sealed garbage receptacle, or take them back to the store wher you bought them for a refund.
