Spanish food company Ebro has acquired Vegetalia and Corporacio Alimentaria Satoki (jointly Vegetalia) from its founding shareholder through its French subsidiary Alimentation Sante.
The restaurants operating under the trade name ‘Vegetalia’ are not included in the transaction. The acquisition reportedly cost €15m.
Ebro distributes its products to more than 25 countries in Europe, North America, Asia and Africa, through its extensive network of subsidiaries and brands.

With this new acquisition, the company has enhanced its market share in organic food, and will complement the business currently operated by the group in France after purchasing Celnat.
Established by Salvador Sala Druguet in 1986, Vegetalia has been producing and distributing a wide range of organic food products and is a pioneer in the manufacturing of vegetable protein.
Vegetalia sells approximately 1,500 products annually that include fresh and dry organic food, organic drinks and diet food. It has a workforce of more than 80 employees.
The new acquisition demonstrates the Ebro Group’s interest in investing in the Spanish food industry.
