Golden Peanut and Tree Nuts, a subsidiary of Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM), today announced that it is investing in the construction of a new warehouse and receiving area at its shelling facility in Headland, Alabama.
“Golden Peanut and Tree Nuts is already one of the world’s premier handlers and processors of peanuts, and we are committed to taking action to remain the first choice for customers,” said Greg Mills, president of Golden Peanut and Tree Nuts. “The new receiving and storage capacity we are building at our Headland facility will allow us to ensure that we continue to meet—and exceed—customer needs as the peanut and peanut oil markets in the U.S. continue to grow.
“We are taking vigorous action to ensure that we remain a leader in the industry,” Mills continued. “Just last month, we announced plans to increase our farmer stock warehousing capabilities in Argentina. In 2016, we completed upgrades at our processing facility in Dawson, Georgia, and our storage location in Vienna, Georgia. Our goal is to continue to lead the industry with global capabilities, the highest-quality products, and unparalleled customer service.”
The new facility, which will have the ability to store 20,000 tons of peanuts, will help improve efficiency for farmers by reducing unload times, and will enhance quality control in the Golden Peanut and Tree Nuts processing system. It will include a 100’ by 540’ foot warehouse, with:
• Two truck dump pits;
• Four sand screens;
• Four warehouse separations; and
• Four load-out doors.
“We are proud to be investing in the Headland community, and we’d like to thank Mayor Marler, Matt Parker and the team at the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Headland Industrial Development Board for their continued support of Golden Peanut and Tree Nuts, and of the entire region,” said John Sheppard, manager of the Headland Golden Peanut and Tree Nuts facility.
The project is targeted for completion in time for the 2017 harvest. Suppliers or customers with questions about the Headland facility should contact Greg Mills at (770) 752-8225.
