BOSTON — Home Market Foods, producer of meat-based prepared foods, has acquired active nutrition brand Perfect Fuel. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2011, Perfect Fuel offers Dark Chocolate Energy Bites made with USDA certified organic ingredients. The bites are available in three varieties: Chia, Ginseng and Espresso, which contains 50 mg of caffeine.

“The future we see is natural and healthy, and convenience wins,” said Nicolas Warren, co-founder of Perfect Fuel. “We’re pretty excited to see Perfect Fuel contribute to that future.”

Home Market Foods produces meat-based meals, appetizers and snacks under the Cooked Perfect and RollerBites brands.

Home Market Foods, based in Norwood, Mass., produces fully cooked and frozen meat-based meals, appetizers and snacks for both retail and food service under the Cooked Perfect and RollerBites brands.

“This acquisition represents Home Market Foods’ entrance into the quickly growing functional food market, which has doubled over the past four years,” the company said. “Home Market Foods aims to be a leader in this market by providing convenient, organic nutrition and on-the-go energy under the Perfect Fuel brand.”
