McDonald's USA to serve fresh beef in Quarter Pounders

McDonalds USA has revealed that it will be serving its Quarter Pounder burgers with fresh beef by mid-next year, replacing frozen patties.

In order to meet customers changing expectations, the burgers will be freshly prepared to order across the majority of the companys restaurants in the country.

The company claims that all its McDonalds burgers are prepared using 100% pure beef and do not contain any fillers, additives or preservatives.

McDonalds president and chief executive officer Steve Easterbrook said: "Over the past two years, weve made a series of bold, tangible changes for our customers.

"Todays announcement is part of a continuing food journey for McDonalds."

“Serving All-Day Breakfast, moving to cage-free eggs and testing delivery are all proof of our commitment to building a better McDonalds.

“We are committed to transforming more aspects of our business, including offering a more modern and enjoyable dining experience, adding new levels of convenience and technology, and making more positive changes to the food we serve."

In 2015, the company has made changes to how it serves and sources its food by offering All-Day Breakfast, and announced that it will be only sourcing cage-free eggs by 2025 and serve chicken not treated with antibiotics.

Last year, the company scrapped artificial preservatives from several menu items and eliminated high-fructose corn syrup from the buns used on Big Macs, Quarter Pounders, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, Filet-O-Fish and McChicken sandwiches.

McDonald USA president Chris Kempczinski said: "Todays announcement is part of a continuing food journey for McDonalds.

"Over the last two years, we have accelerated the pace of change around how we source and serve our food. Delivering fresh beef thats prepared when our customers order their food is just another example of how we are raising the bar. Were just getting started, and cant wait to show you whats next."

The company tested this new initiative across its 325 restaurants across Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, and 77 restaurants in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
