India-based Arjuna Natural Extracts has opened its new sales office in Dallas, Texas, US, to better serve the North American markets with its natural preservatives line.

The new line features proprietary formulations of essential oils and oleoresins.

Its R&D team researched on a selecion of botanical extracts with antimicrobial activity and then tested them in food and beverage applications. The resulting ingredients indicated effective antrimicrobial activity and shelf extension characteristics, without causing any impact on flavour or mouthfeel.

The new natural preservative line can be used in fruit juices, meat, frying oil, mayonnaise and breaded products.

Arjuna Natural Extracts joint managing director Benny Antony said: "Millennial consumers increasingly demand natural products, and Arjuna helps manufacturers get such clean-label food and beverage products to the market, all without compromising appearance or flavour.

"Natural products are, by their very nature, highly sensitive to oxidation and microbial contamination. Many such products currently on the market contain synthetic preservatives, but todays consumers are aggressively seeking safe products without artificial ingredients."

The Dallas office will support the companys sales in the US.

The team will be responsible for global expansion as well as for new trade associations in the region. This move will help launch Arjunas other botanicals, such as Oxystorm, in the market.

Antony added: "Arjunas portfolio consists of traditional botanical extracts backed by research and modern technology, but most importantly, the company tracks and controls the supply chain from farm to fork to provide safe, pure ingredients."
