Bunge Ltd. on June 22 said it has closed on its acquisition of Ana Gıda İhtiyaç Maddeleri ve Sanayi Ticaret A.Ş. (Ana Gıda), a Turkish olive oil and seed oil producer. Bunge held a workshop in May in Ayvalik, Turkey, to celebrate the transaction.
Established in 2001, Ana Gida makes corn, sunflower and olive oil. It is a market leader in Turkey with more than 30% retail share, and exports various edible oil products and brands to countries in the European unio.
Ana Gida has two facilities in Yarımca and Ayvalık. Ana Gida’s Yarımca facility has an annual production capacity of 45,000 tonnes and is located next to the railway, a few hundred meters to the seaport. The refinery section of the facility was designed by Alfa–Laval and the filling units were assembled by the Italian Ronchi company. The facility is also equipped with a modern quality control laboratory.
Ana Gida’s second facility has 3,200 tonnes of storage capacity. The facility is equipped with a tasting room designed at international standards and a quality control laboratory.
The integration of Ana Gida into Bunge is the company’s latest expansion in the edible oils sector.
In April, Bunge Southern Cone and Aceitera Martínez S.A. announced that the two companies have entered into an agreement to transfer all of Aceitera Martínez’s assets to Bunge. A family-run business for more than 60 years, Aceitera Martínez specializes in the production and packaging of edible oils, including soybean and sunflower oil.
Bunge completed two acquisitions in March. Bunge entered into an agreement to acquire Westfälische Lebensmittelwerke Lindemann GmbH & Co. KG, a supplier of oils and fats in Germany. Established in 1902 in Bünde, East Westphalia, is one of the leading suppliers of oils and fats to both the industrial and artisan channels of the German bakery market.
Earlier in March, Bunge completed the acquisition of Cargill’s soybean/rapeseed crush and oil refinery and the beans discharging operation alongside its processing plant in the port of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, as well as its soybean/rapeseed crush facility in Brest, France.
