The FDA has updated the produce recall from Country Fresh Orlando LLC for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. More products were added, along with three products sold at Publix Supermarkets and Walmart stores in three states. “No illnesses have been confirmed by public health authorities,” according to the notice.

The list of recalled products includes seven products sold at Southeastern Grocers stores. They include Fajita Blend in 12 ounces packages sold in Florida, Stir Fry Vegetable sold in Florida, and Vegetable Kabob in 23 ounce packages sold in Florida. The use by date ranges of those product are 8/12/2017 to 8/18/2017.

Also recalled is Green Pepper Diced in 6 ounce packages sold in Florida and Georgia with use by dates from 8/13/2017 to 8/20/2017, and Creole Mix in 6 ounce packages sold in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi with use by dates from 8/13/17 to 8/19/2017. Also recalled is Tri-Pepper Dice in 6 ounce packages sold in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi with use by dates from 8/12/2017 to 8/19/2017, and Fajita Mix in 6 ounce packages sold in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi with use by dates from 8/13/2017 to 8/19/2017.

The other recalled products include Kabob Sensations Veggie Kabob in 15 ounce packages sold at Publix Supermarkets in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia with use by dates from 8/12/2017 to 8/18/2017. Also recalled is Dice Tri-Pepper in 7 ounce packages, and Marketside Veggie Kabobs in 23 ounce packages, both sold at Walmart stores in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia with use by dates from 8/13/2017 to 8/20/2017.

These products were sold in clear plastic containers or in Styrofoam trays over wrapped with clear plastic film. The Southeastern Grocer products were shipped to retailers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi under the Country Fresh and store brand labels.

Look at the recall notice carefully. If you have purchased any of these products and still have them in your home, throw them away in a sealed container. You can also take them back to the place of purchase for a refund.

Then clean out your refrigerator or freezer with a mild bleach solution to kill any remaining bacteria. Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can grow at fridge temperatures, and freezing doesn’t kill it. Wash your hands well after handling these recalled products and after cleaning.

If you ate any of these recalled products, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. That’s how long it can take for symptoms to develop. The symptoms of listeriosis include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may only have a mild illness that mimics the flu, but the illness can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, premature labor, and infection in the newborn. If you do get sick, see your doctor.
