Argentina-based lemon producer Citromax is set to export fresh lemons to the US market from its lemon orchards located in Tucumán, northwest Argentina.
In order to support its import activities and meet packaging standards set by the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), the company has upgraded its packing facility in Tucumán with an investment of more than $250,000.
Citromax president Vivian Glueck said: “We are very proud to say that Citromax is the only US-owned lemon producer that is packing and selling lemons into the US retail market.
“We are thrilled that the recent lifting of trade restrictions has opened up the US market, and we are moving ahead with bringing the highest quality lemon fruit to US consumers.”

The first shipment of fresh lemons is expected to reach the US market by next month and will be sold in the country under one of Citromax’s proprietary brands.
The lemon manufacturer will be collaborating with some of the key importers in the country including Seald Sweet/Greenyard, Oppy and Vision import.
The importers have been shortlisted by the company based on their expertise and ability to manage the distribution of lemon products across the US market.
Established in 1964, Citromax produces lemon-based products including fresh whole fruit, lemon oil, juice, and peel.
With more than 4,500ha of lemon orchards, Citromax is said to be the third largest lemon processor in the world
