The Minnesota Department of Agriculture has issued two consumer alerts for two products sold in that state. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date.

The first is for TeaSource brand Roasted Chestnut Tea, produced and packaged by TeaSource of Roseville, Minnesota. The product is sold as loose tea in 2-ounce, 4-ounce, and 1-pound bags. The label on the bag does not declared almonds, or tree nuts, as an ingredient. Anyone who is allergic to almonds could have a serious reaction if they consume this product. The products were produced and distributed from June 18, 2018 to July 24, 2018.

The FDA has also issued a recall, since the product was sold in the Twin Cities, and in the U.S. through web and mail order. The product was also sold through the company’s wholesale partners.

The second consumer advisory is for Kowalski’s brand Kalbi Rub, which is a type of spice blend. The label doesn’t declared wheat, one of the major food allergens, as an ingredient. The Kalbi Rub is sold in 5.5 ounce bottles. These products were produced and distributed through July 13, 2018.

The symptoms of a mild allergic reaction to a food product can include tingling mouth, tongue, and lips; eczema; redness of the skin, an itchy ear canal, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, nasal congestion, an odd taste in the mouth, and sneezing or a dry cough. More severe symptoms may include swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, shortness of breath or wheezing, a dro in blood pressure, a weak pulse, or chest pain. Anyone experiencing these symptoms needs immediate treatment.

If you ate these products and are allergic to or sensitive to the respective undeclared allergens, don’t eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the store wher you purchased them for a full refund.
