Dole Fresh Vegetables is recalling Dole brand Baby Spinach with Tender Reds for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This product was sold in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, possibly nationally, and Prince Edward Island at the retail level. No illnesses have been reported in association with consumption of this product.
The recalled product is Dole Baby Spinach with Tender Reds in 142 gram packages. The codes on the product are Best Before 18-AU-04 and All time codes starting with W202011. The UPC number on the product is 0 71430 06069 8.
If you bought this product, do not eat it. Wrap it in double wrap and throw it away in a secure garbage can, or you can take it back to the store wher you purchased it for a refund.
Then clean out your refrigerator, or wherver you stored the spinach, with a mild solution of one tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to 1 gallon of warm water. Wipe down other packages that were stored near the spinach. Wash your hands well with soap and water after cleaning and after touching this product.
If you ate this spinach, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. That’s how long it can take for this illness to manifest. Symptoms include persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, neck stiffness, vomiting, and nausea. Pregnant women may suffer miscarriages and stillbirth if they contract this infection, even though their illness is mild and similar to the flu. If you do feel sick, see your doctor and tell her you ate this recalled product.
