Pinty’s Delicious Foods is recalling Pinty’s brand Oven Roasted Chicken Breast Strips in Canada for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.

The recalled products are Pinty’s Oven Roasted Chicken Breast Strips in 1 kg packages, with best before date 2018 AU 09 and UPC number 0 69094 62401 1. The second recalled product is Pinty’s Oven Roasted Chicken Breast Strips in 1 kg packages, with best before date 2018 AU 15 and UPC number 0 69094 62401 1. They were sold at the retail level in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. This product was sold in the refrigerated section of supermarkets.

If you bought this item, do not eat it. Throw it away in a sealed or double bagged package, or return it to the store wher you bought it for a refund.
Then clean out your refrigerator or freezer with a mild bleach solution to kill any remaining bacteria. Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures, and freezing doesn’t kill it. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after cleaning the appliances and after handling this product.

If you ate this product, monitor yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis, the illness caused by this bacteria, for the next 70 days. That’s how long it can take for symptoms to appear.

These symptoms include severe headache, high fever, stiff neck, muscle aches, vomiting, and nausea. Pregnant women may only be mildly ill with something that seems like the flu. But listeriosis can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, premature labor, and infection in the newborn. If you do feel sick, see your doctor.
