C.H. Guenther & Son (CHG) has acquired Mid South Baking Company (Mid South) for an undisclosed amount.
Established in 1978, Mid South supplies buns and English muffins to quick-serve restaurants (QSRs) in the southern US region.
Mid South president Steve Warden said: “CHG’s culture, scale, product set and manufacturing expertise will allow Mid South to grow our reach and better serve our customers. They are well-aligned with our emphasis on customer service and product quality, and we believe we can accomplish great things together.”
Currently, Mid South operates two manufacturing facilities, one in Bryan, Texas, and the other in Pelahatchie, Mississippi. The business will continue to operate out of its existing facilities following the acquisition.
The deal is expected to strengthen its offerings for both new and current customers.
based in San Antonio, CHG is engaged in the production of branded and private-label food products. It is owned by Pritzker Private Capital (PPC), along with management and other co-investors.
CHG CEO Dale Tremblay said: “Steve and the rest of the Mid South team have an impressive track record of success building the company into the market-leading bakery it is today.
“They have been able to scale with their customers while maintaining the highest levels of service, quality and safety. We are thrilled to welcome Mid South to the CHG family and look forward to working together to better serve our collective customers.”
The acquisition of Mid South is the third deal this year for CHG. Last year, the company acquired German bakery supplier Wback and Salt Lake City-based cookietree Bakeries.
CHG now has more than 3,500 employees in 24 food manufacturing locations in the US, Canada and Western Europe.
