Chocolate manufacturer, Barry Callebaut, has developed a clean label dark cocoa powder enabling food makers to deliver a “rich and chocolatey” flavour naturally.
The Natural Dark cocoa powder from Bensdorp – Barry Callebaut’s premium cocoa brand – is developed with a unique alkali-free processing which the company says “hits all the right notes on rich flavour and the deep dark colour consumers prefer”.
The powder offers food makers the opportunity to develop dark cocoa creations with an intense chocolate taste whilst having 100% clean label and natural positioning – something Barry Callebaut said wasn’t possible until now.
“Our biggest challenge was to create a cocoa powder that not only delivers a natural dark brown colour but brings a rich, chocolaty flavour that our customers can confidently use across all major applications,” said Steven Retzlaff, President of Global Cocoa at Barry Callebaut Group.
“Since it’s a 100% natural proposition with a rich, chocolaty taste, we believe that this powder will set a new standard in the years to come. “
Bensdorp Natural Dark will make its debut at the International Baking Industry Exposition in Las Vegas.
