Devanco Foods acquires patent for Schmacon Beef Bacon production

US-based Devanco Foods has concluded the acquisition of intellectual property and all the exclusive patent rights to the Schmacon Beef Bacon production process.

In a separate agreement, Devanco has appointed Schmacon Products founder and CEO Howard Bender as its director of beef bacon products.

The parties have not divulged the full terms of the agreements.

Bender said: “We knew Devanco had the resources to take beef bacon to the next level. We had the help of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, BRANDformula’s development team and strategists, and the Certified Angus Beef LLC team with global reach.

“It’s the support of these larger organisations that helped get us to Devanco today.”

Bender, the founder and the inventor of Schmacon Products, has experience in the culinary and sales distribution sectors.

based in Carol Stream, Illinois, US, Devanco Foods produces gyros and fully cooked whole muscle beef products. It also produces beef and poultry burgers and Mediterranean-style products.

Devanco has also entered into the plant-based product market by introducing a wide range of vegan items in the market.

It recently opened a 100,000ft² United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) facility to manage its expected growth in the near future.

Devanco Foods founding partner and CEO Peter Bartzis said: “This patented process changes the way the world sees beef bacon moving forward.

“Using a manufacturing process Bender and his team developed, the beef retains whole-muscle, keeps the ingredients very clean and produces the finest beef bacon.”

Bartzis said that Devanco’s team has begun distributing products. It targets quick-service restaurant chains and major hotel groups on a global scale.
