Food companies Conagra Brands and Tyson Foods are supporting the efforts of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic with different commitments.
Conagra Brands has announced production and distribution facility employee cash bonuses while Tyson Foods committed $13m in Covid-19 hunger relief and community support.
Across more than 50 locations, full-time employees in the US will receive $500 and part-time employees will receive $250. The same amounts will be offered to employees in Canada and Mexico.
Conagra Brands said the bonus is in response to the team members’ efforts to make and deliver its food to millions of consumers during the pandemic.
To further support employees, the company is also paying staff who must be away from work due to illness related to Covid-19. It would also provide the recognition bonus for the employees.
Tyson Foods’ $13m commitment will also support critical requirements in local communities wher the company operates. The investment includes $2m in community grants and more than $11m worth of products donated by the company since 11 March.
With 141,000 team members, the company donated 4Mlb of protein since early March.
A Community Response Fund created by Tyson Foods will distribute grants and food donations to non-profit organisations working to help people in its plant communities across the US.
Tyson Foods CEO Noel White said: “Our company is proud to play a critical role in feeding the nation during this challenging time, and we recognise the importance of supporting our team members, their families and our plant communities.
“The purpose of this special fund is to provide help wher it’s needed most.”
