High-quality meat supplier O’Brien Fine Foods has suspended processing operations at its Timahoe facility in Ireland.
The announcement follows after the company confirmed that it detected six positive Covid-19 cases; approximately 42 additional employees were tested.

Full risk assessment and contract tracing procedures are continuing with all close contacts of those affected being notified and advised to self-isolate and to contact their GP.
In response to the development, the company will not resume operations for the 14-day incubation period from 4 to 18 August.
Meanwhile, it’s warehousing facility and minimal related operations will continue with reduced capacity levels to manage perishable goods.
Staff will continue to receive full payment. In addition, the company will launch an employee testing programme on days seven and 14. Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
The company will also make arrangements to ensure the safe transportation of all employees to and from work.
In a statement, O’Brien Fine Foods said: “In consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE), we have taken what we believe was the most responsible actions at all times, putting a rigorous health and safety policy in place, testing all employees, undertaking a further deep clean of the facility, and ultimately suspending processing operations.”
The company added: “We wish to thank our team, the community of Timahoe, our customers and suppliers for their support and understanding.
“This sudden spike is difficult to comprehend for all of us. In cooperation with the HSE and Department of Health, we will continue to follow public health advice and take every necessary action to address it.”
