UK-based food manufacturer 2 Sisters Food Group (2SFG) is all set to reopen its poultry processing factory in Coupar Angus today that was shut temporarily earlier this month after the Covid-19 outbreak.
The company noted that it has taken all the necessary Covid-19 control measures during the facility closure by working with the incident management team, NHS Tayside and the local authority.
Additionally, 2SFG employees working at the Coupar Angus poultry processing factory will undergo training and will be provided with best practice guides on issues ranging from transport arrangements as well as their conduct in the community to be Covid-safe.
In a statement, 2SFG said: “As one of the largest employers in the area, we are more than aware of our responsibility in the community to ensure we act with care to ensure everyone’s health, safety and wellbeing.
“We also realise there will be colleagues who have tested positive and may believe this provides them with some level of immunity.
“The reality is that we don’t know this to be true, so our teams will be making sure everyone knows we all have a shared responsibility to protect each of us and our wider community from any further outbreak.”
In July this year, 2SFG announced the reopening of its Llangefni poultry processing after working closely with its partners, including the Welsh Government, Public Health Wales, the Health and Safety Executive, Anglesey County Council, the Food Standards Agency, and Unite the unio.
Before initiating the limited production activities at the facility, the company briefed all its colleagues about the measures taken to manage the various risks associated with the transmission of Covid-19.
