Nestlé Purina Petcare announced it will spend $450 million to buy and renovate a closed brewery in Eden, N.C., to make pet foods.
The news comes four years after the former MillerCoors brewery closed, cutting 500 job. With government incentives totaling about $49 million – based on Nestle meeting hiring and investment targets – the remodeled plant will add 300 jobs by the end of 2024. Its scheduled to open in 2022.
Quoting state officials, the Raleigh News & Observer said Eden was competing with locations in Ohio, which offered $42 million in incentives, and Kentucky, which offered $40 million.
