Sysco, the nation’s largest foodservice distributor, is dropping delivery minimums for all of its restaurant customers to help them cope better with the pandemic.
Sysco CEO Kevin Hourican said on the CNBC program “Mad Money” that the change applies to small, medium and large customers and that it is not an opt-in program, meaning customers won’t have to ask for it. Instead, he said, Sysco’s sales force will make the new policy clear to customers individually.
Sysco especially wants to make things easier for foodservice customers as new lockdown orders hit and cold weather arrives, making it harder to seat customers outdoors. In addition, Sysco will start servicing new customers within a day and offer discounts on other services.
“We reported recently that less than 10% of our customers are currently closed, and our job through these coming winter months is to help all of them be successful through the services and the food product and expertise that we provide to them,” Hourican told “Mad Money” host Jim Cramer.
