A high-profile environmental activist is joining the board of Impossible Foods, saying the company’s goal of eliminating meat use aligns with her perspective.
The news site Axios reports that Christiana Figueres, a former Costa Rican diplomat and an architect of the Paris climate accord, will join the board of the plant-based analogue meat company. She oversaw the United Nations’ efforts on climate change, including the negotiations that led to the Paris accord.
Figueres told Axios that she is joining Impossible because meat consumption is harmful from the standpoint of both personal health and the planet’s well-being. Impossible founder Pat Brown has stated numerous times that his ultimate goal is to end meat consumption.
