UK-based Maelor Foods has selected Marel Poultry to supply their brand new poultry processing plant in Wrexham.

Capable of processing 13,500 birds per hour (bph), the new state-of-the-art plant is reported to be the first of its kind at this line speed in the country.

A part of UK-based firm Salisbury Poultry, Maelor Foods decided to transform a former First Milk cheese dairy plant in Wrexham into the new poultry processing plant.

The company also intends to carry out further deboning at the Wrexham plant itself, as it has additional space and capacity for expansion.

Marel Poultry will supply a complete kill and evisceration department, incorporating fully automated giblet and feet processing, and will also be responsible for installing a stork in-line air chilling tunnel and grading line.
