It looks like someone had a good 2016 at least, even if that someone is the Norwegian salmon industry, which saw a pretty stunning increase in salmon sales during the last year.

According to The Local, Norway saw lower harvests than usual last year, but the lower harvest pushed prices up, and demand kept rising anyway, and in the end Norway’s farmed salmon and farmed trout sales grew 31 percent over 2015. Overall, prices for Norwegian seafood rose an estimated 40 percent last year.

France is the primary market for Norwegian seafood exports--two-thirds of which are salmon and salmon products--but there’s a big market for Norwegian salmon around the world,.

While harvests were smaller than normal and numbers were significantly hurt by outbreaks of sea lice in fish stocks, the higher prices more than offset the supply issues, and the Norwegian Seafood Council reports that Norway made a record amount of money from salmon and seafood sales in 2015.
