The Lamb-Weston/Meijer joint venture (JV) has agreed to acquire the potato division of Oerlemans Foods Nederland.
Under the terms of the deal, Lamb-Weston/Meijer will acquire the frozen potato processing facility in Broekhuizenvorst, the Netherlands, later this year.
Lamb Weston CEO Tom Werner said: “Our partnership with Lamb-Weston/Meijer, together with our operations in North America, allows us to reach customers around the world from key locations in the US and Europe.
“This strategic acquisition is consistent with our investments to strengthen our position in the global industry, and to better support the increasing demand for frozen potato products and growth ambitions of our customers in Europe and abroad.”
The company anticipates that the latest acquisition will enhance its production capacity and provide an opportunity for further expansion.

Upon completion, Lamb-Weston/Meijer will have four production sites in the Netherlands, and one each in the UK and Austria.
Lamb-Weston/Meijer offers frozen potato products to the foodservice, quick service and retail markets across Europe, Brazil, the Middle East and Africa.
