As part of the $35m expansion project, the company plans to add at least 50,000ft² of space to its existing facility and install new equipment to meet changing food manufacturing and labelling requirements.
The expansion will create up to 30 new jobs and retain 275 positions.
Baldwin Richardson Foods president and CEO Eric Johnson said: "Our business continues to grow in Upstate New York and this expansion will allow us to serve the needs of our expanding customer base.
“Making ‘better for you’ products and ingredients in a modern facility, with a competitive structure and workforce, will ensure and protect our future. We welcome the assistance of the State of New York and Wayne County as we secure the economic viability of our region together."
Baldwin Richardson Foods plans to break ground on the project next year.
New York governor Andrew Cuomo said: "The companys continued investment in Wayne County is further proof that the Finger Lakes is moving forward."
In order to encourage its expansion plans, Baldwin Richardson Foods has received funding and assistance from Wayne County and the Empire State Development. The latter has provided up to $700,000 in Excelsior tax credits in return for job creation commitments.
The Town of Williamson has also received $450,000 through the Community Development Block Grant to support the expansion.
