Cereal Partners Worldwide (CPW) has decided to incorporate colour-coded nutrition labelling on the Nestlé breakfast cereals range sold in the UK from October.
The implementation is in line with the common UK labelling scheme set by the government and is expected to be fully completed across the entire Nestlé cereals range by next year.
In June 2013, Nestlé UK and Ireland agreed to adopt the new labelling scheme, which will cover all Nestlé fully owned businesses in the UK.
Created by the UK Department of Health, the new standardised food labels will be displayed on the front of food and drink products.
Using red (high), amber (medium) and green (low) coding, the labels will visually show if the food product has high, medium or low amounts of fat, saturated fat, sugars, and salt.
"The company announced plans to reduce sugar content by 10% across the range by the end of next year."
Cereal Partners Worldwide UK Regional vice-president Gharry Eccles said: “We have provided consumers with clear nutritional information in a monochrome format on the front of the pack for many years.
“The decision by CPW to adopt colour-coded labelling in the UK aligns the Nestlé cereals range with what has become the common UK labelling scheme.
“It is also in line with other Nestlé products in this market, providing consumers with a consistent approach to nutrition labelling in the UK.”

CPW UK, a joint venture company of Nestlé and General Mills, manufactures Nestlé breakfast cereals such as Cheerios, Clusters, cookie Crisp, Curiously Cinnamon, Golden Nuggets, Gofree, Golden Grahams, Nesquik, Shreddies, and Shredded Wheat.
