Two products – Taylor Farms Meatloaf, and Olufela Yemitan imported smoked Siluriformes (catfish) have been recalled, according to USDA notices. No confirmed reports of adverse reactions have been received in either case.
Olufela Yemitan, an importer of Houston, Texas, is recalling 45 pounds of smoked Siluriformes that were not presented at the U.S. point of entry for inspection. They were imported from Nigeria, a country that is not eligible to export these products to this country. They were produced during the month of August, 2018.
The recalled product is 1-pound plastic-wrapped packages of dried, smoked Siluriformes containing “picante fishes spicy catfish smoked with tomatoe pepper sauce ready to eat now!!!!!,” with manufacturing date “MFD: 8/2018,” and best buy date “BB: 2/2019” on the label. This issue was discovered on August 28, 2018 by FSIS through routine monitoring of the eligibility of imported products.
The second recalled product is Taylor Farms beef and pork meatloaf made with beef and pork products, for undeclared eggs and wheat, two of the major food allergens. Seventy-five pounds of this product are recalled. Anyone who is allergic to beef and/or pork could have a serious allergic reaction if they eat this product.
The beef and pork meatloaf was produced on August 22, 2018. It is 14-ounce plastic tray packages containing ready-to-eat “HOMESTYLE BEEF AND PORK MEATLOAF,” with lot code “TFIL234A001,” and a “USE-BY: 08/28/18” date on the label. The meatloaf has the establishment number “EST. 21794” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The product was shipped to retail locations in Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio and Tennessee.
If you purchased either of these items, don’t eat them. Throw them away, or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund.
