As announced at the end of 2018, Auchan Retail Italia will introduce its blockchain in Italy, starting with carrots. The project was set up in collaboration with Big Group and Te-Food, the technological partner of Auchan Retail, with the objective of making the various stages in the life of a product available to consumers.  

The Filiera Auchan app is available both on Play Store and AppStore and it provides information on the variety, grade, category, origin, production area also locating the producer facilities, growing method, nutritional values and recommended recipes.  

The QR code on the label traces the origin of the product as well as its journey. There are currently over forty Auchan chains, including meat, fish, fruit and vegetables. Auchan carrots come from Abruzzo, the Fucino area, Lazio, Sicily, Veneto and Emilia-Romagna.
