H&C Food of Brooklyn, New York is recalling Frozen Fuzhou Fish Balls because they may contain undeclared wheat, pork, egg, and crustacean (shellfish) that are not on the label. Those are four of the major food allergens. Anyone who is allergic to those ingredients could have a serious allergic reaction if they eat these products. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall.
The recalled products were distributed to supermarkets in Queens, New York. They were also sold in these states: California, Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Texas at the retail level.
The recalled Frozen Fish Balls were sold in two different packages. The first is a red and white plastic bag with a gold and black font. They are labeled “Fish Balls” and the package is 14 ounce (400 gram) net weight. The UPC number for that product is 6 953006 4 50093.
The second recalled product is Fuzhou Fish Balls, in a blue and white plastic bag with a gold and white font. They are labeled “Fuzhou Fish Balls.” The product is sold in two sizes: Net weight 14 ounces (400 grams), with a UPC number of 6 953640 050017, and Net weight 4.5 pounds (2043 grams), with UPC number 6 953640 05000. These products do not have an expiration date or lot code, but they will last for 18 months if stored properly in a freezer.
If you bought these products and are allergic to wheat, pork, egg, and/or shellfish, do not eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the place of purchase for a full refund.
